Getting Into Our Groove

Figuring out our place on Fantom and in the greater DEFI ecosystem

Two Raccoons Hanging Out

The Byte Boys have been working hard this past month on a wide variety of projects, pushing further and further into Beta. I just polished off our finances for last month and deliver my report bleary-eyed but ready for another month of action.

As we did in May, we’ve invested 1% of our revenue into $BOO, $SPIRIT, $WAKA, $LQDR, and $STEAK. We’ve also paired all of the USDC we purchased last month with Fantom and put it into a crypt position. I’m also proud to say we were able to pay our entire team at around market rate again this month. Check out our treasury contract to see what the Reaper funds are up to.

So that’s what our money is doing, but what’s the Reaper team developing?

Goober

Our man Goob has taken over Reaper V1, and is mastering all of our tooling, writing new strategies, pushing out new crypts, and working on making the underlying protocol as safe and user-friendly as possible. He’s also been brainstorming new ways to expand the V1 ecosystem beyond just crypts, so stay tuned this next month for any exciting news.

A Quote From Goober:

Everyday the limits of V1 are stretched thin. The existing architecture we have is bullet proof, but it needs more flexibility. The goal with V1 now is to enhance the liquidity for farms we trust while vetting projects that come out in the future. I want our V1 vaults to be the safest place to store your money, that means a thorough analysis of any project that gets added while maintaining the same security standards we have kept since the beginning. That’s the Byte Masons promise to you, our loyal users: Money Boost with no bagholding.

The Crow

As usual, The Crow is pushing the limits of Reaper’s UX. He’s built an entire database from scratch and got our very first API up and running today — if you haven’t yet, you should see how fast our TVL loads now. We’re redesigning our analytics software from the ground up to deliver data faster and more reliably, and we’re excited to keep pushing big changes in the coming weeks.

Quoth the Crow:

I have been toiling in the typescript mines day and night to refine Reaper’s usability and make using our site a generally more enjoyable experience. After I write and deploy the remainder of our API I will be implementing crypt sorting and filtering and then my focus will be on optimizing our analytics system to speed up value loading. We will also be exploring premium RPC options in the near future which could potentially speed up load times a significant degree. Along the way I will continue to implement small UI/UX tweaks and prototype community UI suggestions. I love hearing from the community because every critique makes me a better UX designer so give me hell in the suggestions channel in our discord. Live. Laugh. Reap.

Corval

If you haven’t checked out Dark Mode yet, you should. It kinda speaks for itself. Corval took the lead on that feature, and I can honestly say it’s the best dark mode I’ve ever seen. He’s working on making changes on our site persistent now, so look forward to that — no more toggling every time you visit the crypts.

From the man himself:

“I’m the Mason who tries to fill in the gaps. Whether its working with Crow to develop/implement community requested features or meeting with consultants, I do a bit of everything. This month I’m looking to work with Goober on zappers and build us a more centralized knowledge hub.

~~~~Corval “
Azrium
Az, like always, is trying to get more people into our crypts. He’s behind our weekly promotion votes and working on bigger and better ways to make Reaper the #1 yield aggregator on Fantom. He’s hammering out details on some exciting projects that I know you’ll all love. Unfortunately I can’t spill the beans… but it’s gonna be awesome.
Azrium Says:
“Working with this team is like a dream come true. You can clearly see I’m easily amused through my simple humor. But all this aside, I am constantly collaborating with the team on top secret projects to keep you (our amazing community) happy. If you ever want to chat, feel free to drop me a DM in discord, but good luck trying to get me to talk about our secrets. My lips and fingers are sealed.”
Noob
Noob is slowly transforming from ‘graphic designer’ to ‘creative director.’ Every cute little graphic on the site is born from his talented hands and we put him to work as often as we can — every new icon is like a little Christmas present. He’ll be taking the lead on yet another secret project this coming month in addition to helping Azrium with his.
From Noob:
“Most of my time is spent staring at pixels or lines and shifting them up or down a fraction of an inch, and I couldn’t be happier doing it. I look forward to bringing more cute, fun, and slightly creepy Reaper Farm visions to life for you all to interact with and enjoy.”
Bebis
At the beginning of last month, my primary focus was getting Goober up to speed on managing Reaper V1 and starting to build out V2. Recently, I’ve had to shift my focus back to V1 to work on some analytics and overhaul some of our strategies, and since Goober and I are getting a bit more experimental I’ve had to build out a pretty sizable testing framework so we can poke at our contracts more efficiently. Once this is done, we should be able to iterate faster and more safely. I’m looking forward to reworking V1 analytics with The Crow this month while I make more progress on our V2 contracts.
Quoting myself for consistency’s sake:
“I’ve been focusing on a lot of infrastructure — turning manual processes into programmatic ones and writing a lot of re-usable scripts so we can mitigate human error and do stuff way faster. Wishing I could go to a secluded place and work on V2 nonstop, but the little stuff I’m doing now will save us a ton of time in the long run, and will probably let us finish V2 sooner when it’s all said and done.”
Daddy Birb Says:
“I am not even sure what I am doing here. I am just happy to be involved.”
0xWives Says:
“I’m really proud to see how our discord community has grown these past few weeks. We love to have fun in chat but the level of discussion is also really high. My favorite thing is seeing veteran community members assist newcomers. It makes things so much easier for Discord Managers like Daddybirb and myself. I hope to continue seeing this community grow and help one another on our journey to become the top yield aggregator on Fantom Network.”
So what’s V2?
Despite my griping, I’ve been able to write about 75% of our V2 contracts (keep in mind the last 25% will take way longer to finish than the first 75). It’s pretty well specified at this point, so I’ll leave you with this:
Applications of our system will include smart-treasuries, smart contract wallets, super-flexible yield farming, and complex (industry first) investment strategies that don’t require active management. Longer term, we believe our vaults will be able to support a native under-collateralized lending platform by aggregating a user’s past income and predicting future income using risk-adjusted yields. All decentralized, all on-chain.
There you have it. Sounds easy enough, right? Once V1 is out of Beta, The Crow and I can start working on an alpha to put in the hands of testers. In the meantime I’ll be writing a billion tests, doing a ton of static analysis, and getting our contracts ready for audit. I think I’ll be ready to share a rough timeline in my next monthly write-up.
When Token?
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Conclusion
I’d like to thank all of our beautiful customers for another successful month on Reaper.Farm. We’ve been able to grow despite sour market conditions, and our future prospects are looking bright. We will continue to work hard and hope we can count on your patronage in the months to come. Since we started, users have earned over 10 million Fantom within our protocol, and we’re excited to carry you all through the next 100 million and beyond.
